The Black Political Party Blog
"Whites who come into the black community with ideas of change seem to want to absolve the power structure of its responsibility for what it is doing, and say that change can only come through black unity, which is the worst kind of paternalism..... If we are to proceed toward true liberation, we must cut ourselves off from white people..... [otherwise] we will find ourselves entwined in the tentacles of the white power complex that controls this country.”- Carmichael

Blog Questions From YOU as readers:
- @Mrs.Hensely- I was wondering if this particular political party system is attractive to young adults (ages 18-25)? If so, what are they doing to ensure a large following of young adults? If not, in what area are they lagging behind?
This is a great question, I hope the following answer will clear up any confusions that you may have.
The Black Panthers Party's main focus was to empower youth in order to create minority positions within the political society. Therefore making the political party very attractive to young adults and also, helping the ensure a great number of such ones.
- @AVID coordinator-I really would like to know if the political party considers the rights of minorities? Why or why not? What are they doing to attract minorities? What areas are they lagging behind?
As you know, this particular party is the Black Panther Party which was established when civil rights was a big concern for many. Because civil rights was such a big concern to many, the Black Panther group was created in affect to fight for minorities who did not have a "voice" in society. The main thing they did to inform such ones of the problems that abounded in society they often published articles through a series of books and the Panther's very own newspaper. (If you would like to find out more please visit the Quick Facts section.)
-This is also a copy of the pledge that the Panthers recited, proving that the group focused on the protection of minorities :
Black Child's Pledge
I pledge allegiance to my Black People.
I pledge to develop my mind and body to the greatest extent possible.
I will learn all that I can in order to give my best to my People in their struggle for liberation.
I will keep myself physically fit, building a strong body free from drugs and other substances which weaken me and make me less capable of protecting myself, my family and my Black brothers and sisters.
I will unselfishly share my knowledge and understanding with them in order to bring about change more quickly.
I will discipline myself to direct my energies thoughtfully and constructively rather than wasting them in idle hatred.
I will train myself never to hurt or allow others to harm my Black brothers and sisters for I recognize that we need every Black Man, Woman, and Child to be physically, mentally and psychologically strong.
These principles I pledge to practice daily and to teach them to others in order to unite my People.
- @CivicsTeacher2014-Hey I want to know about the present: Is this political party moving in the right direction as times are changing? Why or why not?
Because of time changing, the black panthers slowly began to separate, causing the group to no longer exist. However, towards the end of their existence they were not moving in the right direction mainly because of the stress and the pressure that they were under(for example, the police wanted to kill those who were even thought to be in the Black Panthers Group). Ultimately causing them to resort to using drugs, giving up or using harsh violence.
My Opinion on the Black Panther Group
When the black panthers first began their political party, they had good intentions. However, the color of their skin caused them to always be at a disadvantage while their superiors(those that were not of a minority group) were always ahead. For example, most Black Panthers convicted of fabricated crimes could not rightfully argue their case sense their superiors always ruled in opposition to them. This caused them to either give up hope or become increasingly violent in effect, their organization could never thrive.
One thing that I admired about this particular group is the emphasizes that they placed on unity and helping those in need -especially CHILDREN. This is very important to me because it shows me that their focus was not on violence by mainly justice for those of the minority race. Because of this strong bond of unity that they were building in the community, I believe that they did not need violence to get their point across because it did not get them but "so far" in their battle of "racial freedom".
What do you think about the black panthers?
